From The Desk Of The Executive Director
November ushers in the start of the holiday season. Suddenly the pace quickens and the activities escalate!
After a late burst of extremely warm weather in October, the chill is in the air and the last colorful leaves are swirling to the ground with the winds of late fall. All of these changes denote the arrival of the holidays, and the pleasure of spending time creating special memories with family and friends.
On Veterans Day we salute our residents who have served in the armed forces to preserve the freedoms that we enjoy. Our resident veterans span multiple generations, and represent those who served in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam.
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. You get to spend quality time with the folks that mean the most to you while enjoying a scrumptious meal! At DevonHouse, we are preparing a delicious dinner complete with all of the trimmings and a carving station for the turkey. Our chef is also baking up a variety of scrumptious pies for our holiday meal, and as part of our annual holiday pie sale.
During this month of thanks, I do wish to say a special thank you to our residents’ families and friends for the opportunity to serve their loved ones. It is my pleasure to get to know each and every one of you.
News from Chef Jim’s Kitchen
We’re celebrating Thanksgiving this month! On Thanksgiving Day, we’re serving a traditional Thanksgiving feast during the lunchtime hours, with turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie. If you are going out for the holiday (or if your family will be joining us here) please let the concierge know so we can plan accordingly.
Our annual holiday pie sale is in full swing. Let us take care of dessert for you this holiday season! Choose from pumpkin, apple, cherry, pecan, and lemon crunch. You can order the pies at the front office. Just let them know which flavors you’d like and when, and we will have your pies baked, boxed, and ready to go for you!
