You’ll learn strategies you and your loved ones can implement immediately to help reduce your risk, and you’ll learn about the key factors responsible for cognitive decline. From The Desk Of The Executive Director

image of pumpkinsWe’re all enjoying the cooler weather here, and every day I’m happy to see residents relaxing during visits on the patio and around the benches under the portico. After a busy month, it’s nice to relax and enjoy the autumn! We capped off the summer at the luau — with the funnel cake truck, games, and music — and then welcomed our many volunteers for our annual volunteer dinner. It was great to see so many of our dedicated volunteers celebrating, including those from EMS, the Salisbury Fire Department, bible study groups, and pet therapy organizations, just to name a few! Thanks so much everyone who worked hard to make the events fun for everyone.

As we look forward to October, we’re gearing up for our annual trick-or-treat night on the 25th, which is always a highlight of the year! Residents, community, and staff have a great time getting together for trick-or-treating right in our living room. This is such a fun night for the kids and kids-at-heart.

I look forward to seeing everyone in their costumes!

Sincerely,
Vivian Stephan

Allentown Senior Living Food and Beverage ManagerIt’s October and we’re celebrating Oktoberfest. The Oktoberfest theme meal is on Thursday, October 17th at dinner, and features sauerkraut, knockwurst, potato pancakes, wiener schnitzel, and black forest cake.

Our patio picnics are officially over for the season. We’ll see you back out on the patio for lunch starting on Memorial Day next year.

With the start of the fall season, the new fall/winter menus will be in place. Look for changes during this month.
Bakers Club will meet later in the month with a spooky Halloween theme!

News from Activities

Allentown Senior Living Activities DirectorAutumn is here and we’re getting ready for one of the most fun events of the year! Our annual trick-or-treat night is on Friday, October 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the living room.

Every year we welcome kids from the community to join residents, families, and staff for a fun night of trick-or-treating. This event draws a crowd — we expect 150-200 people!

Families and kids (and grandkids, and great-grandkids) of residents and staff are all welcome. Dressing up makes it twice fun, so start thinking about a costume.

We’ll provide lots of candy, and we also love it when people bring more of their favorites to share with the kids!

-Melissa Bartynski, Director of Activities

P.S. You can see more about the activities our residents enjoy on our facebook page. Schedule highlights for the month are here.
